Today is all about eloping – our first elopement on the blog and what can we say, it’s a dream! Stefanie and her husband eloped to the Swiss mountains in a gorgeous backdrop of forests, turquoise lakes and soaring snow capped mountains. We can’t believe this is an actual wedding! With a love for the great outdoors and hiking, these two bad asses decided to forgo traditions and elope in style. Beautiful photography throughout by Monica Tarocco.
The Love Story
We have been together almost 13 years (exactly on 24 February 2018). We met each other through the sister of the groom (Suzanne), she is a very good friend of Stefanie. Suzanne arranged a date between the two of us and also went with us, together with her own boyfriend (on a double date).
The groom proposed to Stefanie on the top of Mount Washington, Eastern USA. It was an amazing mountaintop proposal! After the proposal we went to the famous Mount Washington Hotel and we did a road trip in the USA.
Switzerland – because every place we ever visited in Switzerland has astonished us. We visited the following locations in Switzerland (Bernese Oberland) during our elopement for hiking/exploring and make it a romantic day:
– The Cambrian Adelboden Switzerland (for the getting ready pictures and honeymoon). This is really a great hotel, because it has some great mountain views from the amazing pool.
– Engstligen Falls Switzerland (elopement itself near the waterfall); great waterfall and hiking trails
– Blausee Switzerland (beautiful blue lake!)
We are an adventurous couple so we eloped and had a bohemian, wanderlust, hiking theme/style. We also opted for mountain views and a waterfall and included a lot of nature!
Monica Tarocco – she is the best creative fearless photographer ever. Her pictures could go straight to the national geographic magazine in our opinion (especially the one with the cabin in the woods in the background).
Sincerity Bridal, style 3885 – because of the romantic sophisticated style, the pretty lace and the sexy back. My shoes where pink converse (because of our hiking elopement 😉 ). The rings are from Tiffany & Co.
The Hair + Make Up
Carmen Roy – she often works alongside our elopement photographer and she suggested the two hairstyles for me (matching with the different locations) and she is really great!
Tabea Maria-Lisa – she really is the best floral designer ever!
Follow your heart and do want you want. We can recommend everyone to make that brave and exciting choice to have a wedding day that truly reflects them. I want more people to be able to have the wedding day of their dreams—not a crowded event steeped in outdated tradition, family obligation, and about pleasing everyone else—but a real, authentic celebration of their relationship and their love.
We believe that elopements are the best way to get married because you can create a unique and intimate wedding day outdoors. We wanted to spend our wedding day hiking in the nature with just the two of us. It is all about creating an awesome adventure together!
What an amazing setting for an elopement and we love that you tied the knot in your own unique style – what an inspiration and just goes to show you don’t need to follow tradition, your wedding is all about you. All the suppliers are listed below and you can find more real weddings here.
