What a special Christmas treat we have in store for you all today! Katie and Myles got married on an actual real life Christmas tree farm in the Pacific Northwest – cue dreamy lush and wild landscapes with a rustic festive feel. Wedding designer Erika Hernandez used a rich and rustic palate and has created the most beautiful natural wedding. With stunning photography by Tonie Christine and a host of other amazing suppliers, we spoke to newly weds Katie and Myles to find out more…
Katie + Myles’ Story
Myles and I met in college, I had seen him around campus and had been eyeing him for a few months when our paths finally crossed at an out of town dance in Whistler, Canada. From there we were inseparable through the rest of school and in our transition to the “real world”. We love our Seattle home and our two rescue pups who fill our lives with tons of adventures and cuddles.
The weekend after we got engaged we randomly saw an open house for Trinity Tree Farm and having no plans made the drive East and fell in love! We were so lucky it was the first place we saw and the causal laid-back environment and loved how all the evergreens represented the Pacific Northwest so well.
The Inspiration + Theme
I never had a real concrete theme for our big day besides that I wanted to be outside under the trees and use deep fall colors. We were lucky that our planner and friend Erika helped translate that idea into amazing rich warm colors in our linens and florals and all the beautiful details that made our day so special.
The First Dance
“Come Rain or Come Shine” – Ray Charles. We live in Seattle so this an anthem for our marriage that our love shines in the dark rainy days and in the long Summer ones.
The Best Bit
The two moments I replay over again in my mind are watching Myles and my dad hug and exchange words after my dad walked me down the aisle and during sunset when our photographer grabbed us for some informal shots and we got to wander in the trees (my dress was so dirty but it was beyond worth it!) and really slow down to reflect on our ceremony and the day thus far before returning for the party.
Is there anything that you might have done differently?
Actually no! Every aspect of our day felt so authentic to who we are and I wouldn’t change a thing.
Stay true to who you are as a couple and how you want to represent your love. We skipped a lot of things other people recommended we do or include and I’m so glad we stuck to what we wanted. Also- hire a planner! Erika was our MVP and made the entire planning process and day stress-free so I could be in the moment.
What an incredible wedding! Katie and Myles you guys had the most beautiful day – we can’t get enough! We love the unplugged wedding ceremony idea 😉 Big thanks to Erika Hernandez and all of the other suppliers for sharing this beautiful day with us. For more real weddings click here.
