We Love: Alternative Wedding Dome Makers Baya Hire

We Love: Alternative Wedding Dome Makers Baya Hire | British wedding blog - Bride and TonicWe first met today’s totally brilliant suppliers Baya Hire at Field Good WedFest in May this year. The guys, Josh and Ed totally blew us away with their truly stunning dome marquee. We speak from experience when we say it’s like no marquee you have ever seen! The light and space is beautiful and their workmanship is incredible. For a DIY wedding or a more luxurious affair, these marquees will fit the bill. Plus the guys can supply some amazing rustic furniture and even wooden archways for the ceremony and a bar for the party! If that’s not enough their eco credentials will make any ethical bride swoon. We spoke to Josh to find out more…

Tell us a a bit more about Baya Hire…

We are makers of alternative wedding venues. We create handcrafted, timber framed domes that can accommodate up to 200 day guests with room for a lot more in the evening. We also make and supply rustic tables and bars as well as a whole array of complimentary additions for weddings and events.

What inspired you to start your business?

When I got married back in 2013 there just wasn’t the type of furniture we were looking for. I made my own from scaffold boards and managed to sell them all after the wedding. I realised there was a gap in the market and with Ed’s carpentry knowledge and enthusiasm we started with our stock of hire furniture and have naturally grown into supplying our beautiful timber domes which have taken us all over the UK.

How are you different from any other similar suppliers?

We have some configurations with our domes that are completely unique to the UK – the Single with the Sail attachment that brings in the view and floods the dome with natural light, and our Double dome which is two domes connected with a huge expansive clear tunnel.

What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?

Being involved in what most people have as the most memorable day in their lives. Our domes are hard to forget!

How do you make your business more sustainable?

This is something we care deeply about and strive to source everything we use as ethically and sustainably as possible, from materials we use to build our domes to recycling our sawdust.

What would be your number one piece of advice for a bride to be?

You only do it once so go big!

Tell us about the best thing you have seen at a wedding you have been to?

A whole gazebo dedicated to cheese!
