Today’s whimsical beauty of a shoot comes from the fantastic ladies at Braid and Bloom. Photographer Rebecca Searle and a star studded band of fabulous wedding suppliers have created the most dreamy images – you will definitely want your couple shots to be in heathland after seeing these babies! The shoot was inspired by eccentric English aristocracy with a ‘Vanity Fair’ inspired editorial feel and exaggerated flower crowns. Oh yes those flower crowns – just you wait!! We found out more from Braid and Bloom…
We were inspired by a painting that we had seen at a wedding venue of young aristocratic women lounging beautifully together. The image had such a gentle elegance that we knew we wanted to create something similar. It reminded us of the Vanity Fair shoots and it sparked the cogs of us creating this beautiful styled session.
The Dresses + Veil
We used vintage dresses and styled them with the incredible veils by Sash and Veil. We adore their unique designs and incredibly high quality materials. The veils never wrinkle!
Our bouquet was supplied and grown by PlantPassion. We love it’s wild and organic styling which fitted the quiet eccentricity of the theme perfectly. We loved the bouquet so much that we turned it into a flower crown at the end of the shoot! We just couldn’t help ourselves!
The stunning make up looks were created by Blue Vanilla Beauty. She wanted the girl’s make up to be youthful and fresh, with colours echoed in the statement flower crowns. Emily’s paler skin suited cool pink tones and Evelyn’s warm skin took a golden colour palette very well.
Our favourite products from the day? The Ordinary – coverage foundation, Nars blushers, Mac eye shadows and lipsticks and Becca highlighters.
The Hair + Florals
Emily’s hair up was created by Wild Rose Bridal by braiding the top and sides and adding some gorgeous Tilly Thomas Lux hair pins. Tilly makes beautiful boho hair pieces featuring plenty of stunning Swarovski crystals! Her statement pieces are bridal hair crowns, leaf hair combs and star hair pins (our very own Elle from Bride and Tonic had a Tilly Thomas piece for her own wedding!)
Half way through the shoot she changed Emily’s hair into a half up style with knot braids, this looked beautiful and soft in keeping with the romance of the shoot.
Finally she let Emily’s hair loose and let her natural curls fall by her shoulders creating a gorgeous free feel to her style.
We added the flower crowns at this point which she made with fresh vintage pink roses, Lillies, chrysanthemums and hand picked Heather from the common. We wanted them to have a fresh, country garden feel in keeping with the Eccentric English theme. We also wanted a pop of colour which is where the vibrant pink Lillies came in. We photographed the crowns individually and then combined the two together for extra drama – no crown is too big in our eyes!
Evelyn’s hair up was created by Treats4hair with tendrils through the base of the style which came about when I thought to use the gold head band by Tilly Thomas Lux as a feature to run along the back of the style by inserting it on the reverse instead off a headband. I finished it off adding some lavender from my garden.
Gorgeous Evelyn has such beautiful hair that suited the long decorated fishtail braid perfectly, with the front of her hair laid flat to enhance her elongated beauty to truely show off that incredible Sash and Veil dual veil.
For the last look of big curls that are whimsically youthful, as we were about to apply our Wild Rose Bridal hair fabulous floral crown, I thought that the PlantPassion floral bouquet was the perfect eccentric idea in keeping with the theme and we absolutely loved the outcome.
We love this shoot so much! Those flower crowns – seriously aren’t they are fabulous! Thank you so much to Rebecca for sharing her dreamy photographs and to all the fabulous suppliers involved – what a beautiful day that must have been! For more styled shoots and real wedding inso click here.
