Tell us a a bit more about Treats4Hair…
I am a bridal hairstylist offering bespoke placement of flowers that can be added to a hairstyle in unique ways for example from full crown like placement to dainty flowers linked into braids. As well as this I am a hairstylist with 15 years experience and a team member of Braid & Bloom, creating styled hen parties and photoshoots.
What inspired you to start your business?
I was inspired to start my career long dream of becoming a freelance hairstylist and a bridal hairdresser while on maternity leave with my darling daughter.
How are you different from the other suppliers that offer the same service?
Apart from 15 years of happy brides, I love weddings, I love brides – the excitement I feel when meeting a bride is the best. I offer hair maintenance packages that ensure that the hair is the correct colour and cut for all events leading up to the big day. The bespoke placement of carefully placed florals may take extra time, but it can be the huge impact or subtle look needed for any style of bridal party as the flowers are as varied as any style.
I am also available to travel, and as part of Braid&Bloom, we offer styled hen parties that are a fun way to have a trial for a bride and her bridal party which includes a fantastic photography package.
How do you make your business more ethical?
From a sustainable point, I try to grow as many of the unusual dainty flowers that I can, or if I don’t have them I like to purchase the whole plant at a local nursery and replant it or gift it to someone to plant.
What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?
What’s not to love? The romance, the tradition, the lack of tradition…. We live in such a fast paced world that at least at a wedding everyone stops, puts on something stylish and celebrates two people who have chosen each other for better or worse and are throwing a party to celebrate. I love the effort, the care, the coming together of family and friends old and new. For me I am the lucky one, I get to be in on all the ideas from the start with the recommendations, help and advice. But on the wedding day I get to see the build-up happen as one by one each member of the bridal party are readied. There is this feeling of knowing and excitement of what’s about to begin – I feel so blessed to be a part of this incredible industry we are in.
What would be your number one piece of advice for a bride for be?
My best advice would be to think of alcohol on your wedding day the same way you would on an aeroplane, 1 in the air is equal to 3 on the ground! With all that adrenalin, nerves and excitement, take small sips of those Proseccos.
What’s the best thing you have seen at a wedding?
It was at my cousins wedding where I was maid of honour. They had a live band playing and her 17 year old niece-in-law went up to the band and asked if she could sing. Well, everyone was so encouraging but we had no idea she had such a superstar voice! She went on to perform a few more songs that evening which added a fab dynamic to the band, totally unplanned!
Finally in one sentence why should someone choose you?
Although my brides are clients, I always have the feeling that I have the honour to be doing my best friends hair on her wedding day with every bride.
