Coming from a hairdressing background, Candra is also able to get your hair into shape before the big day with regular trims, colouring and trials. Plus we love her sustainable use of local, British flowers and even those from her garden! Let’s hand over the reigns to Candra to find out more about her beautiful business…
Tell us a a bit more about Wild Rose Hair…
Wild Rose Hair is about creating beautiful, romantic bridal styles that suit the stylish bride of today. My signature styling is loosely pinned and braided hair that is not too forced into place but instead will be soft and fall naturally throughout the day creating a beautiful bohemian feel. I love to use flowers in the hair to go alongside this relaxed bridal style and also can custom make flower crowns in keeping with the colour scheme and flower choices of the wedding. coming from a hairdressing background I can also offer hairstyling leading up to the wedding day to ensure the Bride has hair she is most happy and confident with on the day of the wedding. This might mean working toward a dream colour or trimming the hair regularly to make sure its in the best possible condition by the time the wedding day comes round…and if a little extra hair is needed to create the perfect style we can also add in some extensions.
What inspired you to start your business?
I had always known I would want to start my own hairdressing business and coming from a slightly different hairdressing background I had never been your “average” stylist. I had been working the last 10 years for a salon which creates hair systems for ladies suffering with hair loss – a very rewarding job! I loved it, but the pull of my own style and delivering my own service was always there. Then last year in May I tied the knott! The year leading up to my wedding was all about the planning and it opened my eyes to the wedding industry – I loved all the excitement surrounding weddings and I loved the planning process – I was in my element! I started doing bridal hair through work and I liked to create a more natural style and incorporated my love of flowers and the boho look and I soon found my niche!
How are you different from any other similar suppliers?
I wanted Wild Rose Hair to be about the personal touch. I offer a very personal service inviting lovely bride to be’s into my home studio and allowing enough time to really get to know the bride, her style, her wedding ideas, and most of all how she wants to feel and look like on the day. Having come from a salon that helps ladies with hair loss I also feel completely confident and happy working with bride to be’s that wear wigs, systems or hair extensions and my home studio offers a comfortable haven of privacy. I can also custom make flower crowns and come up with a hair style that will accentuate both for the extra wow factor to a Bride’s big day hair.
How is your business ethically minded?
I like to use local florists that use British growers so that the flowers I use are in season and not being transported over to the UK. I also grow some of my own flowers that I can incorporate into my flower crowns! I grow Daffodils, tulips, sweet peas and roses. I am currently working on drying these flowers so that I can offer dried flower crows which will be beautiful! I like to work with a local photographer who shares the same style and vision as myself. I try to use products with are less harmful to the environment – my favourite natural brand to use is Living Proof and I love to use a hairspray that is free from alcohol, parabens, sulphates and cruelty…this is called Feed Your Hold hairspray.
What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?
What I love most is the Brides themselves! Being invited into the home of a bride, and spending the morning with them and their nearest and dearest is so special. I always feel so privileged to be part of that time and be involved in the buzz and excitement of the morning preparations! It certainly is infectious, and although I am there to work, I am so grateful to all the wonderful people I get to meet doing this job. All the touching stories of engagements, right through to the special time with the brides closest friends and family on the wedding morning. I always come away feeling truly happy and excited for the bride to be and providing them with a hair style that I know they will feel beautiful and confident in all day gives me a great satisfaction.
What would be your number one piece of advice for a bride to be?
My advice for bride to be’s would be to remember that all your guests want to see YOU having the best time ever!! Don’t get too caught up in what you think others are going to like, remember what it is that you and your partner like – and go with that! Don’t sweat the small stuff! All elements of the day are important but concentrate on the elements that are most important to you both as a couple – and work from there!
Tell us about the best thing you have seen at a wedding you have been to?
Other than my husband to be waiting at the end of the aisle for me 😉
I can honestly say the best thing I have seen at any wedding is the bride and groom having FUN!! It’s so lovely when you see the couple relax and enjoy themselves – it is infectious! I also love wedding receptions that reflect the couple’s personality with lots of personalised things to their taste. To me that is more important than anything else – oh and of course plenty of bubbly!
Finally, in one sentence why should someone choose Wild Rose Hair?
For a personal service from hair trials through to the day, I will become your hair guru and guide you through your perfect big day hair! I will get to know you and your style and make sure your hair reflects this for your wedding day!
