Her flower creations are so stunning, and the beauty of them is they will last for years with the right care! We spoke to Katie to find out more…

Tell us a a bit more about Lotus Floral Art…

I design and make a full range of long lasting wedding accessories and decorations using dried and preserved flowers. The dried flower has all the beauty of a fresh flower and has the major advantage of lasting for years when looked after correctly. This means they can be kept as a memento and I also feel I am doing my bit for the planet by reducing waste, which is sadly what a fresh flower becomes after a short time. Dried flowers can fill any purpose that a fresh flower would including bouquets, floral crowns, hair clips, button holes, corsages, wreaths, pew ends, table decorations, wedding stationary, decorated frames and letters… the list is endless and the options are limitless.

What inspired you to start your business?

The need to be creative that I was reminded about when I planned my own wedding.

How are you different from any other similar suppliers?

I just try to offer a fantastic service by doing the best I can rather than competing with other’s who offer similar services. I work really closely with all my clients to make sure they have something they love at the end of our process. As I design and make items for customers all over the country I send loads of pictures at all stages of the design so there are no surprises at any point. I am very conscious of the environment and prefer to use British grown flowers whenever I can, I keep my waste to a minimum and use recycled and local products as much as I can.

  1. Loving how much of the colour is still preserved. I would be only wondering what type of spray is used to preserve the colour – they do look dried up but must have been sprayed with something to prevent them from falling apart after a flower crown has dried?
Really love this idea, especially as you can save the flowers for years after the wedding.
