We are feeling so Christmassy here at Bride and Tonic! All of the winter wonderland weddings are really making us feel super festive. For any of you planning a winter wedding, or just fancy making some rustic, homemade Christmas decorations, then we have a lovely, simple make for you on this wintry, Sunday afternoon. This could not be any easier and the effect is stunning!
To create a natural, festive look at your wedding you will need:
- 3 oranges (for one garland)
- Baking tray
- Greaseproof paper / baking parchment
- Sharp knife
- Twine or string
- Kebab skewer or something else sharp (a nail can work!)
- An oven!
one. pre-heat your oven to 100 degrees celcius and line a baking tray with the paper
two. cut your oranges into slices of around 0.5cm wide. Make sure you cut across the width not lengthways to make sure you get the lovely segment effect
three. pat dry your slices with some kitchen roll or a tea towel
four. line up your slices onto the tray, making sure they don’t overlap and put them in the oven and bake for 3-4 hours (making sure you turn halfway through so they stay flat)
five. once dehydrated (not burnt!) take them out of the oven, or for extra firmness turn off the oven and leave them to cool overnight
six. once cooled, make two holes in the top of each orange slice using your kebab skewer
seven. thread your string through both holes and space the slices out to your garland specifications. Tie a loop in each end, hang and enjoy!
We told you it was such an easy make! How many of you are thinking of making some orange garlands for your winter wedding?! Let us know, we love comments! Find more DIY posts here.
