For our own honeymoon we spent a dreamy week in the Lake District in a mustard yellow VW campervan called Skippy. It was pure bliss – waking up to the sun streaming through the van windows, our breath visible in the morning chill, cooking our breakfast on an open fire and rambling walks through the countryside. We took the opportunity to relive this experience on a recent glamping trip in Cornwall to the most perfect shepherds hut near Liskeard, Cornwall. The brilliant owners Lorraine and Jeff have created a fantastic eco friendly, yet luxurious camp for a wonderful glamping getaway for two.
Our stay at “We Two” (Cornish for ‘there are just we two’) allowed us to really unwind and detox from the fast paced, digital lives we lead in London. We spent a lot of our time wrapped up in wooly blankets watching the embers burn low in our outdoor fire pit, toasting marshmallows, reading and talking. We did get out in the days and spent many a sunny afternoon exploring Cornwall’s idyllic seaside villages and walking across the windswept Bodmin Moors, looking out for wild ponies and getting lost.
Maybe the best way to get a feel for our eco staycation is to put your feet up, enjoy a steaming mug of tea (or nice cold G+T, anyone?!) and fall in love with Cornwall in our homemade, rather shaky video below (keep an eye out for Blue the owners lovely labrador!)
