Bride Diaries: Elle’s Wedding – The Engagement

15 months, 10 days and 210 minutes until the wedding…

As you have probably guessed if you had read the About Us post I’m pretty damn organised and love nothing more than a good spreadsheet and status report! This is helping me massively in my own wedding planning and so far I feel pretty on top of our plans. I got engaged last Christmas so let me fill you in, in what we have been up to since and how it all began…

I met my other half (Mr T) when I was just 12, whilst we were both competitive swimmers. We haven’t always got along; he is 2 years younger than me and was pretty annoying when I was younger. Fast forward 15 years and he grew up, and when two mutual friends decided to get married, we started to spend more time together and the rest as they say is history.

Five years dating and he finally proposed at the beautiful Gidleigh Park in Dartmoor between Christmas and New Year. Under false pretences I was whisked away to celebrate our five year anniversary and whilst out on a walk through their beautiful water gardens the other half got down on one knee, well technically he didn’t get down on one knee as it would have meant his jeans got dirty (more on that later) but you get the gist and I immediately burst into tears and said yes.

I may have even forgotten to look at the ring as I was caught up in the emotion of being asked to marry the man I love. The ring is a gorgeous nine diamond daisy ring designed by Mr T with the talent jewellers Webley in Hatton Garden, London. I instantly fell in love, it’s unique, and exactly what I had in mind – I had dropped enough hints!

For the rest of the day we kept ourselves in a bubble not telling a soul what had just happened. We enjoyed the hotel facilities – we had a hot tub on the roof of our room and drank a celebratory bottle of champagne before spending the evening enjoying a scrumptious meal by the renowned chef Michael Cain.

The next day we drove back to both our respective parents houses to tell them the good news and pop a few more champagne bottles in celebration! We immediately decided that we wanted to get married in Devon the place where we got engaged and where both our parents live. So now all we had to do was find the perfect venue…
